The inspiration for this painting came from a hike I took with my good friend near the Alakai Swamp in Kokee, Kauai, Hawaii. I love the exotic look of the kahili gingers even though they are not a native plant and are considered to be an invasive weed. They have been trying to rid Kokee of these plants for years, with no luck. On this hike, I saw many kahili ginger plants and have to conclude for myself that more than likely they are here to stay.
Marionette's art is featured in the new NETFLIX movie "Finding 'Ohana" and in season 2 of the new Magnum PI. Her paintings can be found at the Koloa Landing Resort in Poipu and in public and private collections throughout the world.
